Hawkins Air Conditioning is a corporate sponsor of McMurry University Athletics. McMurry has been part of Abilene since 1923. We've been fixing air conditioners here since 1976. Same town, same side of it.
Why we signed on
Why a heating and air company backs a college team
Because we live here. Our techs' kids go to school in this town. Debbie and Amber run into McMurry families at the grocery store. When a school has been part of Abilene for more than a hundred years and you've been part of it for 50, putting your name behind them isn't marketing. It's what neighbors do.
McMurry sits on the south side of Abilene, the same side of town as our shop on Ruidosa. More than 20 varsity teams. Students who come here from all over Texas, and plenty who stay and raise families here. In a town this size, that counts for something.
So if you see the Hawkins name alongside the War Hawks, that's why.
Two Abilene names
1923 and 1976
103 years for them, 50 for us. Both spent in the same town.
McMurry University
Opened in Abilene in 1923 and affiliated with the United Methodist Church. The teams have been the War Hawks since 2011 — maroon and white, NCAA Division III, competing in the American Southwest Conference across more than 20 varsity sports.
Hawkins Air Conditioning
Tom Hawkins trained at Carrier's Engineering Design School in 1970 and opened the shop in March 1976. Carrier Factory Authorized, in the Carrier Hall of Fame since 2013, NATE-certified techs. Still at 117 Ruidosa Ave, still answering our own phone.

You don't need a sponsorship pitch. You need somebody to show up. Call (325) 692-3645 and Debbie or Amber will tell you how soon we can get there — usually the same day. Same crew that runs calls all over Abilene: Josh, Brandon, Nano, Isaiah, Austin, and Bryson. Rent houses, faculty homes, duplexes off campus — we've been in all of them.
Off the clock
This isn't the only thing we show up for
Every fall our crew joins Heat the Town — a Saturday spent fixing heat for neighbors who can't afford the repair. We support Meals on Wheels and St. Paul UMC. The McMurry sponsorship goes in that same column: things we do because Abilene is where we live.
